VHP's Action Plan, no poor will die of starvation, nobody will remain illiterate because of a lack of money, and nobody will die due to the unavailability of medical facilities : Togadia

PUNE: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) general secretary Pravin Togadia on Sunday said the organisation was considering a three-point action plan

aimed at bringing more sections of the society into the mainstream. Togadia said the action plan was based on three principles no poor will die of starvation, nobody will remain illiterate because of a lack of money, and nobody will die due to the unavailability of medical facilities.

Togadia made the remarks at the valedictory function of the two-day meeting of the VHP's welfare section in the city. "The organisation has made its presence felt in all the tribal areas of the country through its welfare wing. The VHP, through this section, has set up primary and secondary schools, hostels, orphanages and self-help groups across the country."

The VHP leader claimed that the presence of the organisation's schools in tribal belts had ensured that the locals did not support the Naxals.

"The VHP's annual budget of around Rs 100 crore is utilised for schools, education, hostels and orphanages. There are 37,000 sites where welfare activities are currently being run throughout the country," he said.

Speaking about the growing strength of the Sangh Parivar, Togadia said the nationwide membership of the Bajarang Dal would soon touch the one-lakh mark. Bajrang Dal activists, he added, are currently undertaking a drive to collect a fistful of grain from the people to create a large reserve for the needy.

Development possible only through Hindutva : Togadia

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia on Sunday said the debate on choosing between Hindutva and development is futile since development in the county is all thanks to Hindutva.

“India can become an economic superpower only through Hindutva,” Togadia said at a function organised by Niramay, an NGO for the poor and supported by the VHP.

He said the public service is carried out by Muslim, Christian and Hindu organisations, but the motive of each is different. The service provided by Christian and Muslim community is imperialistic and not on humanitarian grounds while the social service initiative of Hindu organisations is only for public cause, Togadia said.

The VHP leader said there was a misconception that Christian organisations are leading in providing services to the poor, but it is hardly one per cent of that by Hindu organisations.

“I will soon come out with a book that will make public the contribution of Hindu organisations,” he said.

The VHP wants to make a resolution that would ensure that no poor sleeps without food, dies without medication and remains illiterate due to lack of money, Togadia said.
