VHP vice president Omkar ji Bhave passed away

Omkar Bhave VHP Omkar Bhave, Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) vice president, died on Thursday morning following severe breathing problems and chest congestion.

 He was 85. Bhave had been admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in the capital June 27. He was brought to the VHP office in R.K. Puram on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Born on July 26, 1924 at Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, Bhave had joined RSS in 1938 and became Pracharak in 1945. In 1982  joined VHP.  Since 1989 he was associated with Janmabhumi Mukti andolan.  He became VHP joint secretary in 1985 till 2009.

Top VHP leaders Giriraj Kishore and Ashok Singhal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief K.S. Sudarshan and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders L.K. Advani, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and others paid tributes to Bhave.

ALLAHABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad will organise a Hindu Yuva Sammelan at its Magh Mela camp on January 31. Over 10,000 workers from 19 districts of the state will participate in the sammelan. Among the issues to be discussed during the convention include the Ranganath Mishra report, terrorism and saving the river Ganga from pollution.
