Muslim fatwa against BSP’s dalit slogan Jai Bhim. Term it un-Islamic and against Sharia law

Feb 08, 2009
Muzaffarnagar A leading Islamic seminary has issued a decree declaring the BSP slogan of ‘Jai Bhim’ as un-Islamic and violative of Shariat.

In the fatwa, the Dar-ul Uloom said that the slogan, invoking Dalit leader Bhimrao Ambedkar, was “against the Islamic law as the religion does not permit such a prayer for anyone except Allah”.

The fatwa was issued by chief Mufti Habibur Rehman, Mufti Mehmood and Mufti Zeulislam on Saturday on a query raised by a medico M Mehraj Khan, seminary sources said.

While the decree has sparked concern in the BSP, especially among its Muslim leaders, a cleric from the seminary Asad Madani who recently joined the party said that the slogan was not a “compulsion” for the party workers. Backing the fatwa, Madani said it was based on Shariat law.

Arrest of 5 Kerala Jihadis solves Bangalore terror blasts, say police

VEILED FACE OF TERROR: Abdul Sattar, a native of Malappuram in Kerala was arrested in Hyderabad.

New Delhi: Bangalore Police claims that the July 25, 2008 blasts case has been solved and all the main accused arrested. Nine persons have been arrested in connection with the serial blasts that had rocked the country’s IT hub and police say most of them are from Kerala.

The arrested men are Abdul Sattar, Abdul Jabbar, Mujeed, Faizal, Abdul Jaleel, Manaf, Sarfuddin, Badruddin and Fakria. They have all been arrested from Kerala.

The plot was revealed to the city police by Sattar during his interrogation. The Bangalore police had got his custody from the Hyderabad Police. All the arrests are linked to a Kerala-based terror module which sent youths to LeT camps in PoK.

He said that misguided local youth - who were influenced by the radical group in Kerala - were behind the blasts. “They did it to create a sensation,” he stated.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri said the case was a watertight case.

“A dedicated team worked for three months on the case. The Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat Police helped us. Since no militant group had claimed the responsibilty for the blasts, our job tough was made even more tough,” he added.

“Four people who helped plan and execute the Bangalore blasts were killed by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir when they were trying to cross the border. It was major lead for our investigation,” Bidri said.

One person was killed and several people were injured on July 25, 2008, when nine low-intensity bombs exploded between 13:30 hrs IST and 14:15 hrs IST, some near the Electronic City in Bangalore.

This is the second time in two-and-a-half-years that the country’s infotech capital was struck by terror.

The Bangalore blasts followed a terror attack in the city in December 2005 and similar serial blasts in Jaipur on May 13.

Violent Muslim mob attacks Saraswati idol immersion, pelt stones at police and set ablaze tractors in Gopalganj, Bihar

According to the police, some miscreants set ablaze a tractor and pelted stones at the police escorting the immersion procession, which led to the clash.

The mob also opened fire at the police team escorting the procession, police said.

Tension grips Bihar village after clash over idol immersion
Thursday 5th February, 2009 (IANS)

Tension gripped a village in Bihar’s Gopalganj district Thursday, a day after a clash between two communities over idol immersion, a police official said.

Nearly a dozen people, including policemen, were injured Wednesday afternoon in a clash between two communities over idol immersion at Pathan Toli near Vishnipur village. A police sub-inspector died of a heart attack immediately after the scuffle.

‘There is still tension in the village but things are under control as several security personnel have been deployed. Senior district officials are there and are trying to defuse the situation,’ said Kesharichand, officer incharge of Sidhawalia police station under which the site of the clash falls.

According to the police, some miscreants set ablaze a tractor and pelted stones at the police escorting the immersion procession, which led to the clash.

However, the Times of India as usual attempts to hid and muddle the facts. As if we Indians don’t know between Ram and Rahim, who is the persistently violent, intolerant one.

But here is a give away,”The mob also opened fire at the police team escorting the procession, police said.”  Is it any wonder the Muslims are treated as terrorists and  violent by the police.

Tension over idol immersion route
5 Feb 2009, 0453 hrs IST, Alok Mishra , TNN

GOPALGANJ: The Gopalganj police had a tough time after members of two communities clashed with each other, attacked vehicles and made abortive  attempts to torch vehicles over immersion of idols of Goddess Saraswati in Sidhwaliya area of the town on Wednesday afternoon.

Gopalganj ditsrict magistrate Ramesh Lal said the situation was tense but under control. He said that an inspector-rank officer, Jai Prakash, died due to some disease at the place of occurrence.

Police sources said that the situation became tense on Monday evening when some residents of Paithan Toli objected to passing of idols of Goddess Saraswati, installed at Jalalpur and Bishunpur villages, through Paithan Toli. On getting information, senior administrative and police officers reached there and tried to pacify both sides.

Police said that the idol of Jalalpur was diverted to another route for immersion. Sources said that when the villagers of Bishunpur remained adamant on taking the same route, it was provided tight security by the district administration.

Sources said that on Wednesday afternoon, hundreds of villagers of Bishunpur assembled around three tractors, carrying the idol of Goddess Saraswati, and as the immersion procession reached Paithan Toli, members of both rival sides clashed. Both sides also opened fire and lobbed countrymade bombs at each other. The mob also opened fire at the police team escorting the procession, police said.

Lal said that as both sides indulged in brickbatting and used whatever they could in the process, the district administration was forced to lob teargas shells to disperse the crowd. Enr

And the totally Islamofascist Muslim media gives a totally different spin: Blaming the mob of processionists here.  If Muslims don’t want Hindus and their religion around, and live in peace with other people, why are they in India??

6 Australian Muslims jailed on terrorist plot to bomb and kill thousands

MELBOURNE, Australia (AFP) — A Muslim cleric and six followers were jailed for up to 15 years Tuesday for forming an Australian terror cell that plotted bomb attacks designed to kill thousands.

The organisation fostered and encouraged its members to engage in violent jihad — to perform a terrorist act,” judge Bernard Bongiorno told Victoria state’s Supreme Court after Australia’s biggest terrorism trial.

Firebrand cleric Abdul Nacer Benbrika, 48, was jailed for 15 years, of which he must serve at least 12 years, while his followers received minimum terms of between four and seven-and-a-half years.

Algerian-born Benbrika had urged them to target large crowds at sports matches or a train station to pressure the Australian government to withdraw its soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan, the court heard.

Benbrika had said it was “permissible to kill women, children and the aged,” prosecutors said. Material seized from the group included bomb-making instructions and video tapes with messages from Osama bin Laden.

The men referred to themselves as mujahedeen, or holy warriors, and considered violent jihad an integral part of their religious obligations, said Bongiorno.

They were arrested in November 2005 after the government strengthened laws to detain those in the early stages of planning terror acts after the London transport bombings in July that year.

Describing Benbrika as an “unskilled fanatic,” Bongiorno said he sought explosives training from an undercover police officer and “all of the evidence points inexorably to a conclusion that he maintains his position with respect to violent jihad.”

Benbrika was so committed to violent jihad, Bongiorno said, that he had talked about continuing the group’s activities behind bars if its members were jailed.

While the group had not chosen a specific target or carried out an attack, the judge said they had shown no remorse, and did not appear to have renounced their beliefs.

“The existence of the… terrorist organisation constituted a significant threat that a terrorist act would be or would have, by now, been committed here,” the judge said.

“The absence of an imminent, let alone an actual, terrorist attack does not mean that condign punishment is not warranted in this case.”

Remy Ven de Wiel, defending Benbrika, had argued the defendants were not terrorists but young men learning about Islam from a self-styled sheikh who “couldn’t organise a booze-up in a brewery.”

He told the court his client was a braggart and did nothing more than talk about jihad, or holy war.

“The Muslims in Australia have a sense of powerlessness and political impotence and they express themselves,” Van de Wiel had told the jury.

But after eight months of evidence the jurors found Benbrika guilty of directing a terrorist organisation and the other six — Aimen Joud, 24, Fadl Sayadi, 28, Abdullah Merhi, 23, Ezzit Raad, 27, Ahmed Raad, 25 and Amer Haddara, 29 — guilty of being members.

Ahmed Raad, Ezzit Raad and Joud were also convicted of intentionally making funds available to a terrorist organisation, while Joud and Benbrika were found guilty of possessing a CD connected with the preparation of a terrorist act.

Bongiorno jailed Joud and Ahmed Raad for a minimum seven-and-a-half years each, Sayadi for six years, Ezzit Raad for five years and nine months, Haddara for four-and-a-half years and Merhi for four years.

An eighth man, Izzydeen Atik, pleaded guilty in August 2007 and was jailed for five-and-a-half years.
